CHURCH OF THE OPEN DOOR: FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH of UKIAH:
If you come looking for us you will soon realize that we don't look like a church from the outside - just one piece of an office complex. Our vision is not to "look like" a church, with a beautiful sanctuary and Sunday School wing -- our vision looks outward into our own community, and beyond, looking for those places and circumstances where we can "be church in action". Our vision is to follow Jesus' injunction to "feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the imprisoned."
To that end we put our efforts into reaching out, serving where we can, sometimes working as a community, sometimes supporting the passion and focus of one member who brings a need to our attention.
If you would like to be a part of our out-reach program, you are welcome to join in. We realize that we cannot "fix" all problems -- we do not have the resources -- but we believe it is better to feed one person today than to despair because we cannot end world hunger. We believe we are called to do what we can -- large or small. Some of the ways we have recently served this community:
*** It is in service to each other that we best serve God ***
